Start of fall marks prime time for Snapdragon picking
You can pick apples at Whittier Fruit Farm weekdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Ogden, N.Y. — On this first morning of fall, Michael Schwartz visited Whittier Fruit Farm, where apple-picking season is now in full swing.
He got a taste of the many different varieties of apples available, including one that you can only find at Whitter.
He also talked to Jermaine Douglas, manager at the farm market, who moved to the area from Jamaica as a teen and has worked at the farm for more than 20 years. He’s become an apple expert, and this morning he shared some of the best uses for each type of apple, including which ones are best for making apple pie.
